Safeway Insurance wants to keep things safe, whether you're driving on the highway or the byway. Through about a half dozen subsidiaries, the group provides automobile insurance coverage, primarily in the southern US. The company specializes in nonstandard policies (insurance written for drivers that are considered higher claims risks). Through some 450 in-house representatives and a network of more than 3,000 independent agents, Safeway insures more than 250,000 policyholders in about a dozen states. Chairman William Parrillo founded the family owned company in 1959.
